Natural Resources
Our Natural Resources group puts seven services on one track: environmental, permitting, grant assistance, wetland permitting, Native American affairs, geotechnical, and hydraulics and hydrology. One team carries a project from what is in the ground and the water to the permits, the funding and the consultations it needs. Pick a car to see what it carries.

Environmental
NEPA documents, site assessments and compliance programs, from planning through operation.
- CEs, EAs and EISs
- Phase I and II ESAs and compliance audits
- Species surveys and agency coordination
Permitting
The federal, state and local permits a project needs, applied for early and kept in compliance through construction.
- Section 404/401 and state water permits
- Stormwater and erosion and sediment control permits
- Permit conditions tracked through construction
Grant Assistance
We find the federal programs that fit and write applications that score.
- Bridge Investment Program
- CRISI and TAP
- Merit-criteria narratives
Wetland Permitting
We find and map wetlands and streams, permit the impacts and design the mitigation.
- Wetland and stream delineation
- Nationwide, joint and individual permits
- Mitigation design and monitoring
Native American Affairs
Early, government-to-government consultation with tribal nations, carried through the federal process.
- Section 106 and 4(f) support
- NEPA and tribal consultation
- Work with BIA, BIE and DOI bureaus
Geotechnical
Drilling, testing, analysis and construction support, and ground hazard programs that keep track in service.
- Subsurface exploration and lab testing
- Railroad ground hazard risk management
- Slopes, walls, foundations and subgrade
Hydraulics and Hydrology
Flood flows, culvert and bridge hydraulics, scour and drainage: modeled, designed and permitted.
- Watershed hydrology and design flows
- Culvert and bridge hydraulics, HEC-RAS
- Scour, drainage and stormwater
One consist, one schedule
Each car is a service, coupled to the same locomotive. Geotechnical and hydraulics and hydrology work feed the design, environmental and wetland findings feed the permits, tribal consultation starts early, and grants help fund the work. Geotechnical tools and project pages (Analysis Suite, Project Status, Drilled Shaft Testing, NS Bridge – Ashtabula, CSX Third Track, NECR Slope Program) are in the Geotechnical car.
